Heat exchangers can be used in the equipment of air heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, and can also be included in the process equipment. Heat exchangers are a bundle of copper pipes with a diameter of 9.52 mm or 12.0 mm, arranged in a checkerboard pattern. Aluminum foil plates (lamellae) are pressed onto the tubes as fins. The thickness of the lamellas ranges from 0.15 to 0.20 mm.
The minimum pitch between the plates is 1.8 mm. Maximum - depends on the diameter of the tube and is 6.25 mm for a tube with a diameter of 9.52 mm and 8.0 mm for a diameter of 12.0 mm. Heat exchangers are designed for operation under climatic conditions O1-according to GOST 15150-69. Water air heaters and air coolers may be used at a coolant temperature of up to 180°C and an operating pressure of up to 1.2 MPa. The maximum allowable overpressure is 1.8 MPa. The recommended range of coolant velocities in the tubes is from 0.4 to 1.75 m/s. Heating water, steam, as well as non-freezing liquids (an aqueous solution of ethylene glycol or propylene glycol) can be used as a heat carrier. Cold water or aqueous solutions of ethylene glycol and propylene glycol are used as a coolant. In order to avoid clogging of the heat exchanger, it is desirable that the heated air be pre-cleaned. It must not contain solid, fibrous, sticky or aggressive to aluminium, copper and zinc impurities that can cause corrosion of the heat exchanger elements. The dust content of the air should not exceed 0.5 mg/m3.
