The air-source heat exchanger and the air handling unit (AHU) are two essential components of an HVAC system. The Air Heat Exchanger transfers heat between indoor and outdoor air flows, while the AHU conditions the air by controlling temperature and humidity.

Relationship between the air heat exchanger and the AHU:
The air heat exchanger is an essential part of the AHU system. It exchanges heat between outdoor and indoor air flows, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature. The AHU is responsible for controlling and distributing conditioned air to the building's interior spaces.



Air heat exchanger operating principle:
In an AHU system, the air heat exchanger generally consists of two ducts running parallel to each other. One duct carries the incoming fresh outdoor air, while the other carries the outgoing stale indoor air. The two ducts are separated by a heat exchanger core made of aluminum, copper, steel or plastic. As both air streams pass through the heat exchanger core, heat is transferred from the outgoing air to the incoming air.

When designing an air heat exchanger for an AHU system, the following factors must be taken into consideration:
1. Heat transfer efficiency: the heat transfer efficiency of the air-source heat exchanger can be optimized by careful selection of materials and design.

2. Size: the size of the air heat exchanger must be adapted to the air flow rate and duty cycle of the AHU.

3. Design temperatures: the design temperatures of the incoming and outgoing air flows must be taken into account during the design phase of the air heat exchanger.
