Low carbon technology

Low carbon technology refers to the effective control of greenhouse gas emissions of new technologies developed in the fields of renewable energy and new energy, clean and efficient utilization of coal, exploration and development of oil and gas resources and coalbed methane, carbon dioxide capture and storage, etc., involving power, transportation, construction, metallurgy, chemical, petrochemical and other sectors.  

Low-carbon technologies can be divided into three types:  

The first category is carbon reduction technology, which refers to energy saving and emission reduction technology in the field of high energy consumption and high emission, clean and efficient utilization of coal, exploration and development technology of oil and gas resources and coalbed methane, etc.   

The second category is carbon-free technology, such as nuclear, solar, wind, biomass and other renewable energy technologies.  Over the past 10 years, world solar cell production has grown at an average annual rate of 38 percent, outpacing the IT industry.  Global wind capacity bucked the financial crisis and grew 28.8% in 2008.  

Zero carbon technologies

Development of new type of solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, ocean energy, biomass energy, nuclear energy, and zero carbon power technologies such as mechanical energy and thermal energy storage technology such as chemical, electrochemical, strengthen the high proportion of renewable energy grid, uhv power transmission, new type dc power distribution, distributed energy advanced energy, such as the Internet technology research.  

Development of renewable energy/resources hydrogen production, storage, transport and use of hydrogen technology and low grade waste heat utilization and other zero-carbon non-electric energy technology.  

Develop zero-carbon raw material/fuel substitution technologies such as biomass utilization, ammonia energy utilization, waste recycling, non-fluorine gas utilization, energy recovery and utilization.  Develop zero-carbon industrial process re-engineering technology for key industries such as iron and steel, chemical industry, building materials, petrochemical industry and non-ferrous industry. 

Negative carbon technology

Negative carbon economy is an economic model that takes the absorption and transformation of carbon dioxide as the main form and effectively controls the emission of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas.  

We will strengthen innovation in carbon negative emission technologies, such as geological utilization of carbon dioxide, efficient conversion of carbon dioxide into fuel chemicals, direct air carbon dioxide capture, and biochar soil improvement.  

To study the synergistic relationship between carbon negative emission technology and climate change mitigation and adaptation, and lead the construction of ecological security negative emission technology system.  

To tackle the core difficulties of carbon sequestration technologies, strengthen the upgrading of carbon sequestration technologies in forests, grasslands, wetlands, oceans, soil and frozen soil, and improve the carbon sink of ecosystems.
